As a former middle school principal, “sugar packet chugging refugees from the Lord of the Flies,” made me laugh right out loud. That is the best way to describe any group of middle school boys anywhere in the US (I can’t speak for pre-adolescent children of other nationalities, although I would guess the behavior is universal). What is it about sugar packets?? I’ve been on too many middle school trips where I had to actually remove the packet holders from the tables because the boys just can’t control themselves around free access to processed sweetener. OK, now I’m getting nostalgic. 😂
I live in Upstate New York, about three hours south of Montreal, Quebec. One year we took a group of 7th and 8th graders there for an overnight. On the way home at probably 9:00 PM we stopped at the duty free store just before crossing the border back to the States. Three or four boys bought full bottles of maple syrup. Little did we know that their plan was to see who could chug the syrup the fastest in the back of the bus. We were able to intervene just before the vomiting started.
Ha! As a former middle school teacher, I sometimes wonder if my inability to manage my classroom stemmed from my cluelessness about using sugar as a reward.

That’s hilarious. I had no idea I was witnessing behavior that was native to the species 🤣

Oh that would’ve been a site to behold. I lived in upstate ny for a few years, sounds like not as far north though

I commend you for tying together the similarities of kids and pets. Only another parent of kids and pets gets it! Nice job.
Wow Cindy, thanks! You made my morning 😊
"The chalet most definitely did NOT resemble this one." Ha! Thanks for making me laugh out loud multiple times.
Picket is the answer?
We shall see! I think they have more of a chance of him getting hot and winning 4 games in a row in the playoffs than with Hurts.
You’re welcome, and thanks for reading!
