I would be happy to have the success of Lisa Loeb. Maybe people recognize my name. Maybe not. But who cares. I'd have money and the ability to persue whatever I wanted. That seems like freedom to me.
Money does buy freedom, that’s for sure. But if history is a guide she probably is not as well off as you’d think. Lots of music people that hit it big in the way she did got ripped off in terms of deals & management and stuff like that.
Sums up perfectly what I have been experiencing with my very own Substack. I think where I land is, I simply cannot spend another pocket of my life contorting myself to be the most likable, digestible, successful, relevant version of myself. in the little corner I have claimed, I have decided on only putting out what is truly authentic for me, whether a whim or a well thought out essay.
I loved Lisa Loeb. Very quirky. Aerosmith's first go around was during my high school days, so yeah I was a fan. Hated the "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" sell out years. Now he looks like my aunt who is trying really hard to be the "cool aunt."
I liked your comparison of a one-hit wonder and a timeless, commercially successful band. I had to go back and listen to Lisa Loeb. The video for Stay is so cute. Great song!
You’re right! We must’ve caught the same cold with our GenX music posts!
I love that your mind meanders all over the place like mine. 🤣🤣
Yeah, it’s all fun and games until you actually try to fall asleep right?
Don’t even get me started on my nocturnal adventures in place of rest.

Good song, Henny. Maybe I was wrong to curtail my musical listening career around the time Huey Lewis was popular.
It’s a big world out there Bill 😉
Next thing you know you’ll be a Tik Tok influencer
If only. . .

Good for you Taylor!
(And I mean that supportively. It’s been brought to my attention that that phrase, when typed, can be misconstrued)
I was gonna say, SiruisXM?
You already know my choice. My gaf left the building decades ago.
Great article Henny!
Thanks William!
I’m such an old man I had to google gaf 🤣🤣
Hahahaha 😆

🤣🤣 Definitely looks like an aunt.
Anytime Stay comes on the radio I stop channel surfing and listen

Love it. And it takes me back to a very specific point in my life and I like that about it too.
