Calling an Audible
Flagged for excessive optimism, adjusting accordingly
For the past year and a half, I’ve been operating under a very scientific system known as:
“Yeah, I can probably fit that in.”
📰 Weekly newsletter.
🎙️ Every-other-week podcast.
📖 A book on John Matuszak that occasionally taps me on the shoulder like, “Hey bro…remember me?”
And soon, I’ll be helping coach high school football (long-story), which means my free time is about to take a Lawrence Taylor–sized helmet to the sternum.
So I’m making a small adjustment.
Going forward, SilentPunt is going to run on an alternating schedule:
One week: newsletter
One week: podcast
You’ll still hear from me every week, just in a slightly different rhythm.
The goal here is simple: keep the newsletter sharp, keep the podcast growing, and finally make a real push to finish the Matuszak book the right way.
For months now, I’ve been researching and writing, writing and researching, amazed by his story, but struggling to pull it all together.
Then last week, something finally clicked. Or at least I think it did. And now I need to give myself the space to flesh that out. I’ll share pieces of that process as I go…not everything, but enough to bring you along.
Back next week with a full post.
Until then, pace yourself. Unlike me.
If you’ve reached the Sally Field portion of this newsletter, “you like me, you really, really like me,” take that as a sign to send this to one other person.
And also, dogs:
Most of you don’t know Lucy. She was our sweet and spunky Yorkie, who passed away a few years ago. RIP Boo.

Good call on this. Easy to shackle ourselves to arbitrary online timelines. Excited to hear about the coaching.
Congrats! Can’t wait to read coaching high schoolers stories.
And the book clicked. Love when that happens.
