As both a boy-dad and a girl-dad, I very much understand your perspective on raising a daughter. All I can say is, now that my daughter is thirty-something, one of the joys of spending time with her is introducing her to another one of the single-malt scotches in my collection - she is an eager participant - almost makes it worth having gone through those teenage years. . .
The idea of this piece came to me last week. I was hanging out with an older guy who was talking about his wifeβs menopause. Obviously I knew about menopause, but because of my age Iβm kinda inundated with perimenopause talk right now (a lot from Substack oddly enough).
Then Iβm like, holy cow, it seems like in every stage of life there are rules to interacting with women π€£
Nothing wrong with having a Jem or two on the team. Maybe not the kinda guy youβd want to rely on for a safe ride and def not someone youβd trust with your girlfriend but those dudes youβre damn grateful theyβre on your team cause you sure as hell wouldnβt want to play against em.
I mean, I canβt really even comment about the Jalen Carter thing. Simply canβt do that in any sport. Prison yard? Fine, if youβre done with the whole game in there and want to end it soon. But thereβs no place in any sporting contest, game, practice, etc.
Your comment is great. Iβve always had respect for football coaches and thier ability to navigate this. You want those dogs and, especially on defensive side of the ball, you need those dogs. But getting them to keep it between the whistles is no easy task. Harder when theyβre that good too. I suspect there are a lot of folks out there, fans as well, who donβt have an appreciation for how tricky that part of coaching is.
βCompound knowledge!!!Bahahaha!!!! π And the photo of Ava and Darla is too cute! π
Thanks Jenn!
That is one of my favorite pictures of all time. I remember that day fondly.

Iβm guessing the key word there is almost π€£
Accurate! lol
This is charming but does not make me wish I had a wife. π€£ππ

Totally. And he reminds me of dudes I played with. Minus the whole willingness to kill people π€£

I agree! We actually talked about that quite a bit in coaches meetings. Some of the best football teams have some seriously questionable guys in them.
Jalen Carter from the Eagles being a prime example.

"Hold on tight brother."
Hell yea, brother.
Itβs gonna be a wild ride π€£!
There is some sage advice here. Not the least bit cynical. One question: Why does your pic of Obi Wan have three arms?
