As both a boy-dad and a girl-dad, I very much understand your perspective on raising a daughter. All I can say is, now that my daughter is thirty-something, one of the joys of spending time with her is introducing her to another one of the single-malt scotches in my collection - she is an eager participant - almost makes it worth having gone through those teenage years. . .
The idea of this piece came to me last week. I was hanging out with an older guy who was talking about his wife’s menopause. Obviously I knew about menopause, but because of my age I’m kinda inundated with perimenopause talk right now (a lot from Substack oddly enough).
Then I’m like, holy cow, it seems like in every stage of life there are rules to interacting with women 🤣
Nothing wrong with having a Jem or two on the team. Maybe not the kinda guy you’d want to rely on for a safe ride and def not someone you’d trust with your girlfriend but those dudes you’re damn grateful they’re on your team cause you sure as hell wouldn’t want to play against em.
