Just a response from an elderly coffee drinker. In my defense, I have stirred my coffee for probably 70 years and it works for me. However there are other reasons as well. I go by color and I can control that by adding a little at a time. Also , what if I do 8,10 12 ozs. , a different amount of creamer. How about coffee strength, Starbucks vs Wawa , definitely different mixtures.

You see this isn’t as easy as you would like me to believe, it takes a perfect amount and a perfect eye to reach that wonderful light brown color that I am looking for. We won’t even talk about regulating the temperature, it takes a firm hand. Just saying!

This reminds me of an argument that was on All in the Family. Do you put on a sock and a sock, then a shoe and a shoe. Or sock, shoe, sock, shoe?

If I want to savor I stir, if I need to get my coffee In my system ASAP, creamer first. With a toddler I have been doing a lot of creamer first 😂 but to your point, holding empathy for those I have disagreed with has allowed for the possibility that a mind can be changed, and I hold onto that hope !

Changing one’s mind seems to be something people do less of as they get older…so I’m trying my best to work on it.

Henny, I crashed at a long time friend’s house last night. This morning, I was looking through her kitchen drawers for a spoon. So I had to ask her, since she had already poured her own coffee into a cup, “Do you put the cream in first?” Nope. She pours them SIMULTANEOUSLY to achieve the “perfect” color. This way she doesn’t need a spoon either. Anyway, it cracked me up. The details of our lives is always good fodder. 😂😀

There is a book that literally spends hundreds of pages exploring what it’d be like to first see a car in 1904–The High Mountains of Portugal by Yann Martel (Life of Pi author). I was always thinking, how does the character not understand the simplest things? You’ve given me a great explanation with Generational Knowledge!

Also enjoy Wisconsin (it’s almost as good as Minnesota)

Ha! I’ve never read either of those, although I’ve seen the Life of Pi movie. How are they?

Life of Pi was a great book. The High Mountains of Portugal started excellently with the whole car in 1904 story, but veered in a very confusing direction for the 60% of the book that followed.

LOL. I think there's something satisfying about stirring a drink. In the morning I drink water with a squeeze of lemon juice and a pinch of salt. I have to stir the salt in anyway. Maybe people who take their coffee with sugar figure that they have to stir the sugar in anyway, so they might as well watch the milk swirl into the coffee, which is prettier than when you pour the coffee onto the milk.

So…I’m going to try your theory tomorrow when I drink my morning tea with honey…I’m a bit unsure if it will all dissolve with the hot water alone, but I’m certainly going to give it a go. Even though I just learned that I need a wooden spoon to keep the good things about honey still active! A metal spoon takes all the awesome properties in honey and negates them, somehow. My friend just bought me a set of wooden honey spoons for Christmas.😊

Reporting back as promised..it was as I feared. The honey parted way for just a few seconds in the middle where the hot water went in, but then quickly filled right back in. I waited a bit to see if the honey would become one with the hot water without my stirring, but it did not.

I thought I might be able to upload the photos I took to show you, but it doesn’t seem like we can include photos in comments. 🤷‍♀️

If I’m being honest Moorea I kind of agree. There’s something to the routine of it. And it is aesthetically pleasing. But it’s still not efficient 🤣
