Having been married 40 years, I’ve learned absolutely nothing about relationships. But I do know this: wives are convinced their husbands are stupid - that’s why their instructions for us are always so explicit.
Henny, I really enjoy your newsletter each week. Somehow, my Substack feed got filled with political stuff. It’s all complaining about the same things. You speak to things that interest me and give me a break from all that noise. Thanks for that.
Paul, your comment means a heck of a lot to me. That is pretty much the vibe I am going for. Thanks for reading and for sharing such a thoughtful comment!!
I could live on hot dogs, wings, and pizza. I wouldn’t live very long but I could do it! 🤣 I think you’d love that book…it’s basically a hot dog travelogue. Happy vday to you guys as well!
Yes to this, Henny: “Nowadays we try to make every day feel like Vday. Not with grand gestures or fancy chocolates.”
In an ideal world, we would treat each other like every day is Valentine’s Day. But my reality is that doesn’t happen, because well, life happens instead. So I like that this is or can be a day we set aside to honor and dote on those we care about most in this world. But obviously everyone should do what’s right for them.
For me, there’s simply not enough love in this world…so the more, the lovelier.

Ha! Well, in my wife’s defense that assumption would be accurate 🤣
Sounds like you have a real marriage, not a made-for-tv version. Congrats on seeing eye to eye.
Well I can’t say we see eye to eye all the time. But for the important stuff for sure!
That book sounds adorbs but is it only for weiner dog lovers?
Ha! Definitely check it out, it’s a hoot. Plus it’s like a road trip book also which I always find fun.
Very nice, so cool that you can get your feelings out on paper! You two are so great together.
Your steel trap photo is definitely your Mom especially about errors that I made 25 years ago but still haunt me.
Love everything about this 💙❤️
"Valentine's Day Is Stupid: An Ode To My Wife" definitely slaps...well done!
Ha! I’m immediately showing my teenage daughter that comment for street cred! She’ll find a way to humble me but a man can try 🤣
It’s always worth the try lol

That was a fun read, thank you!
Thanks for reading and commenting William!
My pleasure :)
Might have to read Raw Dog. My husband ridicules me endlessly about my HD fetish. 😂 Happy Love Day to you and the Mrs. ❤️
Portillo’s is the bomb. We have one here now. I go…frequently 😬

See? This is the weird stuff I love! A hot dog travelogue—who knew? First stop in Chicago (first time) was Portillo’s. Worth it? 💯!!! 🌭
